On the afternoon of September 28, the 13th KLU Original Ecological Ethnic Culture and Art Festival and University Association Activity Month - “China’s Wisdom for the World” English Speech Competition wereheld at the Music Hall of the School of Music and Dancing.

Long Jian, Vice President of KLU, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He hoped that the competition would improve students’ comprehensive English application ability, create a strong English learning atmosphere across the university, promote education reform, and build a high-quality education system, to cultivate applied talents with international visions.

Peng Sixiang, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, teacher Zhang Jingyue, and foreign teacher Mr. Mario guided on-site. Professor Li Lihong and faculty members from the School of International Education served as the judges.

After an intense competition, the first prizeinthe professional group went to Chen Yihao, the second prize to Guo Qiqi and Wang Shengping, and the thirdprize to Zhou Jia, Lu Xiongmei, and Hou Kaiyi. Zhang Yifanwon the firstprizeinthe amateur group, Bai Lin and Zhan Ying won the secondprize, and Wu Xiaoying, Shi Hongwei, and Huang Zuoying won the thirdprize.Nine students including Fu Jinqiu won the Excellence Award.

Themed by “China’s Wisdom for the World”, the event not only showcased the English style and literacy of KLU’s students but also verified the achievements of KLU’s foreign language teaching. It has played a positive role in promoting the reform of KLU’s English education and talent training quality.

It is reported that Chen Yihao and Guo Qiqi from the School of Foreign Languages will represent KLU in the “FLTRP · Guocai Cup” English Speech Competition (Guizhou).
