On 26th October, "China-ASEAN Student Tourism Ambassador Competition (Final)" was held in KLU. With the opening act of the Miao Dance, the atmosphere was warm and cordial.
Zhou Jiangju, member of the Party Committee and Vice President of KLU delivered a speech for the competition. She expressed a warm welcome and sent sincere greetings to the leaders, judges and guests attending the competition. She said that KLU has hosted activities related to the China - ASEAN Education Exchange Week for five times, and with this platform, KLU has deepened exchanges and cooperation with colleges and universities in ASEAN countries, promoting friendly civil contacts, consolidating humanistic exchanges and serving the Belt and Road Initiative. Finally, she wished the competition a complete success and the participants excellent results.
Chen Wenyi, on behalf of the Secretariat of the China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week Organising Committee, expressed warm congratulations on the event and heartfelt thanks to KLU for the hard work in hosting the event. He stressed that the China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week has been held for sixteen years, and the Exchange Week has become the only exchange and cooperation platform between the governments of China and ASEAN with the theme of exchanges, which has played a positive role in promoting China-ASEAN education co-operation.
The competition consisted of three parts: travel recommendation, travel quiz and talent show. 20 contestants from 10 colleges and universities and 9 countries appeared on stage in their distinctive costumes. In the tourism recommendation section, the participants, dressed in traditional costumes of different countries or Chinese ethnic minority costumes, acted as tour guides and led the audience to "visit" different tourist attractions. They won audience's warm applause during the travel quiz by answering confidently with in-depth understanding of Chinese culture and rich knowledge reserves.
After a fierce competition, LUU THI HUYEG of Guangxi University and PHAM THI SAO of Guizhou Normal University won the first prize; TRAN THI THU THUY of Zhejiang Normal University, LUMINI MANAGE of Guangxi University, DUANGPHOUKHAM MEEPA of Zunyi Medical University and LAOXEUN YISING of Zunyi Medical University won the second prize; Six contestants, including KAEWSOMBOON SUPATHIP and SONGSUWAN TAKANANTINEE from KLU, HTET TINZAR AUNG from Zhejiang Normal University, AUNG NAN from Guizhou University, NTETHELELO MARCIA-ANNE MPOFU from Jiangsu University, and KINGSLEY LUCENT WONG from Fujian Institute of Technology and Normal Studies, were awarded the third prize. The other eight contestants were honoured with merit awards。
