The Wuyang River Scenic Area covers part of three counties: Zhenyuan, Shibing and Huangping, with a total area of 400 square kilometers. The tourist attractions include the Wuyang Scenic Spot, the Yuntai Mountain Scenic Spot, the Tiexi Scenic Spot and the Anciet Town of Zhenyuan. The scenic area extends over 100 kilometers, with more than 40 scenic sites dotting along the riverand in the nearby places.  The Yuntai Mountain Scenic Spot is 13 kilometers from the north of Shibing County , inside which there are independent mountain peaks of over 300 meters tall, hanging cliffs and caves with stalagmites and stalactites, creating a splendid and wonderful mighty karst scene. Everywhere within the area, there is thick green vegetation with various species, presenting a beautiful mountainous landscape sight. The Tiexi Scenic Spot is situated in the east of Zhenyuan where the Tiexi River , a distributary of the Wuyang River , passes through. Inside the spot, there is transparent clean water, groups of caves, flourish vegetation, deep valleys, and exotic and rare mountain peaks. The Shizhu Peak , over 100 meters high, looks particularly marvelous among the mountains.

The Wuyang Scenic Spot is the leading site of the whole scenic area. The main water course in the Wuyang Gorge is the most wonderful place, around 35 kilometers long, with quite a number of attractive sights such as Mount Sanjian(three swords), Mount Shitu(master and apprentice), the Wuyang Gate(meeting bridge), Xiongshihuishou(the giant lion that looks back), Shiyaoyun Bridge, Qunfenglanshen, the Waterfall at West Gorge, Laoying(eagle) Rock, Pearl Pool, Mount Peacock, the Sandishui Dragon King Waterfall, the Yuanyang(mandarin duck) Lake, the Fire at Chibi, the Miao Girl on the Wall and Zuihandongsan (sleeping at the east mountain)

The Shamu River is a branch of the Wuyang River , composed of over10streams such as the Huanghui and the Zhijing River . It earns the name because it is well known for producing china fir. The river flows through the northwest of Shibing and meets the Wuyang River one kilometer away from the county town. The river water is clean all the time with green trees on both sides, creating a place of wonder for tourists. Recently, it has become a holiday resort for tourists. In this area, the white water rafting is the best for tourists. Tourists can go down the stream by staying in the rubber dinghy. Sometimes it seems frightening to the tourists, but not dangerous: a real pleasure indeed. The white water rafting is entirely different from the exploring rafting in the rapid currents full of risks. In the former, the water route has been selected and checked, while in the latter, the geological conditions are not clear to the explorers. The water in the Shamu River is said to contain certain mineral elements good for human health. It can cure some skin diseases. Mount Shamu in the upper reaches of the river is a desirable place to watch the scene. From there, one can enjoy the splendid peaks of the Yuntai Mountain , well known in the east of Guizhou .

The Yuntai Moutain is an important scenic site in Wuyang River Scenic Area. It is located in the north of Shibing, 15 kilometers from the county town and totaloing around 300square kilometers. Inside the site, high mountains rise into white clouds, and upright cliffs, peculiar rock columns and strange stones create a unique karst scene with numerous attractive peaks. Green vegetations in various species are growing happily on the mountains, adding to the beauty of the sight. On the Cave, Baijingtai(a platform for Buddha-worship) and other sights.  In 1567 during the Ming Dynasty, temples were built on the Yuntai Mountain . Hence, it was once the pilgrim site for Buddhism. Even at present, we can still find some relics of dolmen, mountain gate, stone shrines, spirit tablets, and the temple walls.

Besides the natural beauty of the landscape, the place is also a gathering site for the ethnic minorities at their festivals. Every Siyueba(the eighth day of the fourth Chinese lunar month), thousands of the Miao and Ge people will go there to hold a Lushen party and celebrate their festivals. Now the Cultural Relic Bureau of Guizhou has selected certain ancient buildins there for exhibition. In January1998, the first ethnic minority festival museum was officially open. It exhibits volumes of written materials and numerous cultural relics for scholars to study the ethnic minority groups and their cultures.
