As a platform for academia jointed many organizations across the Taiwan Straits held annually without full-time staff, special fund, or even government background. Its moderate scale and academic quality show the secretariat' effeciency in planning, organizing and deploying activities, and also show the strong support from universities and research institutions and the important role of anthropology in society. The forum focuses on 'anthropology and ecological culture', a hot social issue, intending to survey popular folk customs in theory and to promote the theoretical study of social hot issues with anthropology. It is wished the forum can offer the rational interpretation on 'the original ecological culture'”.
Activities are reported to include: thematic lectures, special forums, photo and picture show of Guizhou a century ago, youth forums, visit to Xijiang Miao Village, round-table forum for scholars across the Taiwan Straits, field survey in Taijiang, assessment from observants and the closing ceremony, and survey tours.
