On the afternoon of December 21st, the meeting room on the second floor of the library was filled with happy laughters. A Christmas and New Year 2009 party was being held by Kaili University for international teachers and students. Prof. Zengyu, president of KU, Mr. Pan Kaide, vice secretary of KU CPC Committee, Prof. Yao Renhai and Prof. Zhang Xuemei, vice presidents, Mr. Chen Huaili, president assistant and other leaders from related departments were present. Catherine Slager and John Park, foreign teachers in KU, as well as some international students were invited to the reception.
President Zeng Yu introduced the development and achievements of KU in the past year. He expressed his thanks to the international teachers and students for their industrial work and his best wishes in the new year to all international students and their families.
John Park, on behalf of the foreign teachers, said, “The moment we arrived here, we felt the warmth and hospitality from the people in Qiandongnan and from the teachers and students of KU. The industrious students made a deep impression on me. This university is our home, so we will work hard and will not make you disappointed.”
Mirjam, a student from Germany, on behalf of international students, gave an introduction on her study in KU and thought highly of the management of the university and expressed her gratitude for the care and help of the leaders, administrators and teachers of the university.
Stacey, from UK, Lorry and Jimmy, from USA, made speeches one after another to express their thanks.
President Zeng Yu asked repeatedly the international teachers and students if there were some difficulties in their daily life and promised that the university would do its best to help them in their work and study. He asked the international teachers and students to put forward advice and suggestions for better management of the school.
After the meeting, a friendship activity for the Chinese and foreign teachers and students was provided. They sang with their mother tongues to express their wishes to all, which pushed the reception to the climax.
